FAQ

Common questions

I don't use QuickBooks. Can you still help?+

Yes. QuickBooks Online is our specialty, but we work with other accounting platforms too. If you're on spreadsheets or nothing at all, we can help you choose and set up software that fits your business.

Can you actually file my taxes?+

Yes. We prepare your return, go over it with you, and file it with the CRA. You don't need a separate accountant for your personal, self-employed or rental return.

What do I need to bring for my tax return?+

Your slips (T4, T4A, T5 and others), RRSP receipts, medical, childcare, donation and tuition receipts, and last year's Notice of Assessment if you have it. If you're self-employed, your income and expense records too. We'll send you a checklist before we start.

My books are months (or years) behind. Is that a problem?+

Not at all. Catch-up work is one of the most common things we do. We'll start with a consult, look at what you have, and you'll get a quote before any work begins.

How do I send you receipts and statements?+

Most documents come straight through your bank feeds. For receipts, you can snap a photo or forward them by email, whatever is easiest for you. We'll set up a simple routine during onboarding.

Do we need to meet in person?+

No. Everything can be done remotely by phone, email and video call. If you're local and prefer to meet, that works too.

How is my financial information kept secure?+

We work through your accounting software's own user access, so you control the login and can remove our access at any time. Your information is kept confidential and never shared.

How much does it cost?+

Pricing depends on how many accounts and transactions you have and which services you need. After a free consult, you'll get a fixed monthly or project quote so there are no surprises.
